The Two Types of Live Slots

Live slots take an online slot and run it live from a studio, with a host presenting the round. They come in two forms:

• Live Slots with Shared Spins
• Slots with a Live Game Show Bonus

Live Slots with Shared Spins

This is a full online slot, played with a live host. All players who join share the same spins, and the slot itself decides the win. Between spins you can use the chat to speak to the host and other players. The slot stays simple to play. You choose your own stake, but everyone in the round plays the same spin. So players win or lose on the same result.

The core loop is short. You place your bet, you wait for the shared spin, then you choose whether to bet on the next round. Some titles add free spins, a bonus round or a gamble step on top of the base slot.

I tested each of these titles in a real session. A few points were true for all of them. Live slots run slower than a solo slot, because each round waits for every player to place a bet. That pace suits players who want to follow the host and the chat. It suits players who like fewer rounds per minute. It suits self-paced players less well.

Extra Chilli Epic Spins

Extra Chilli Epic Spins is Evolution’s live version of the Extra Chilli Megaways slot. It was built with Big Time Gaming. All players share five spins per round. You trigger free spins by forming the word HOT on the reels. The host also runs two gamble wheels and a piñata that can add multipliers.

I played the original slot, and I think Evolution did a good job of bringing it to the live casino. It is the same slot, but with a community feel. In my three hours of testing, the HOT bonus triggered six times, so you need to be patient. Your own session may trigger it more or less often. Most times it paid around 50x, and one time it paid 250x.

Buffalo Blitz Live

Buffalo Blitz Live is Playtech’s live version of Buffalo Blitz. It came out in 2019 and was one of the first full slots to run in a live studio. It keeps the 4,096 ways to win and the free spins round. It is the same slot, with a host beside it.

The live version is less volatile, so you win more often, but the wins are lower on average. I saw this in my test sessions. The free spins round triggered often, and my balance stayed steady.

Everybody’s Jackpot Live

Everybody’s Jackpot Live is a Playtech live slot. It has two shared progressive jackpots and four bonus rounds. When a jackpot drops, one player takes half. The rest is shared among everyone in the round.

I like the variety this live slot brings. The four bonus rounds and the two jackpots stop a session from feeling the same each time.

9 Pots of Gold Streamicon

9 Pots of Gold Streamicon is OnAir Entertainment’s live version of the 9 Pots of Gold slot. It came out in August 2022. Like the titles above, it stays true to the original. For me it is a bit dull, because there are few extra features. The 2,000x top win is also small next to the other three titles.

Slots with a Live Game Show Bonus

In these games you play your own qualifying slot, and the win comes from a live bonus round at the end. You spin the slot at your own pace to qualify. Then you join the other qualified players in a single live round that a host runs.

Crazy Coin Flip

Crazy Coin Flip starts with a five-reel qualifying slot. You collect three scatter symbols in one spin to qualify, and any scatter multipliers you land carry into the bonus. Three spin modes change your stake and your odds of qualifying: Normal, XXXtreme and Super XXXtreme. After you qualify, an optional top-up slot lets you build red and blue multipliers before the live round. The live round is a coin flip run by a host, and the side the coin lands on sets your win.

For me the qualifying slot feels too simple. Slot fans especially will not like it. You play this game for the live bonus round, not for the slot.

Crazy Pachinko

Crazy Pachinko follows the same three-part structure. You play a five-reel qualifying slot and collect three scatter symbols to qualify. Here the scatters are sticky, so they slide down one row each spin. That makes the slot a bit better to play, and it makes qualifying easier. The scatters also carry multipliers up to 10x into the bonus.

The live round is a pachinko wall, where a host drops a puck into one of sixteen multiplier zones. I like this bonus more than the coin flip. With sixteen zones you have more ways to win than the two sides of the coin

Balloon Race Live

Balloon Race follows the same three phases as the other two: a qualifying slot, a top-up phase, and a live bonus round. You qualify with three scatters or three wilds, and the wilds grow to fill a whole reel. The slot also pays for its ribbon symbols, so a spin can return something before the bonus. That gives the slot side a bit more to do.

The coin flip and the pachinko wall were both taken from Crazy Time, but this bonus is new. A machine draws coloured balls, each ball lifts one balloon a step, and the first balloon over the line sets your multiplier. Your result is your own, based on the multipliers you built up along the way. The better slot and the fresh bonus make this my favourite of the three.

Bet With Streamers

Bet with streamers is a different format, made by Livespins, which Evolution owns. A streamer plays regular slots live, and you place a bet alongside them. You are not only watching the stream. You bet on the same spins, so if the streamer wins, you win too, based on your own stake.

This turns watching into taking part. It also means almost any slot can become a shared live round, because the streamer chooses what to play. The streamer talks through the features as they land and speaks to the room in the chat, so there is a social side that a solo slot does not have. In that way it sits close to watching a slot stream on a site like Twitch, but here you can join the action instead of only watching.

I expect a lot from this format in the years ahead. For now, in 2026, it is still not well known to the wider public, and you will only find it at a small number of casinos.
