European, French and American Roulette
Most live roulette uses a single-zero European wheel. That is the one you will almost always play, and it is the better wheel for the player: the house edge is 2.70%.
American roulette adds a second zero, which raises the house edge to 5.26%. It is rare in live play. We point it out so you can avoid it.
French roulette uses the same single-zero wheel as European. The difference is a rule called La Partage. When the ball lands on zero, it returns half of some even-money bets. On tables that use it, the house edge on those bets drops to 1.35%.

The Types of Live Roulette
Live roulette games differ in what they add to the basic wheel. We sort them into four types:
- Classic roulette with no extras
- Fast roulette
- Cinematic roulette
- Roulette with multipliers and bonus features
1. Classic Roulette
Classic roulette is standard roulette with a live dealer and a real wheel. No multipliers, no bonus rounds, just the wheel and the standard bets. You can play it in all three versions: European, French, or American.
The European version is the one you will find at almost every casino, because every provider offers it. French and American tables are less common. Only some providers offer them. How We Review Live Roulette Games
We test every live roulette game ourselves and then score it with the same fixed framework we use across the site. That way you can compare any two scores on the site directly. No game gets an easier or stricter review, so a higher score always means a better result against the same criteria. Here are three things we score in our framework:
- The RTP of every bet, not just the main one. Some side bets pay back much less, so we check them all.
- How often the bonus features land, not just what they promise. A high max win means little if big multipliers almost never land.
- The studio and the dealer, because on a live table that is a real part of the game.

No. You cannot play any live dealer game for free, because a real dealer and a real table cost money to run. But you can open a live table and watch without betting, so you get used to the wheel, the layout, and the bets first. No. You can see the dealer and chat with them, but they cannot see you. The dealer only sees that a player has joined and which bets are placed, not your name or your camera. There is no camera on your side.

They can pay much more on a single number, because of the random multipliers.
