My Interest in Live Casino Games

Since 2016, I have visited the major iGaming trade shows almost every year. My biggest interest has always been live casino games. In the early years, it was exciting to watch this market grow so quickly. It all started with simple live roulette, blackjack, and baccarat games, but the industry developed at a very fast pace.

The real change came in 2017, when Evolution launched Dream Catcher. That game felt completely different from anything players had seen before. After that came the famous Lightning games, bigger multipliers, and more extreme bonus features designed to create extra excitement for players. But today, the market feels more stable, and many new games are mostly based on existing ideas.

Less Innovation at iGaming Trade Shows

At the same time, recent years have shown that innovation appears to be slowing down. When visiting the major iGaming exhibitions today, there is clearly less variety than before. Many new releases are based on existing concepts, with providers mainly adding new themes, side bets, updated visuals, or small gameplay adjustments.

Examples include the many different versions of Lightning Roulette or blackjack tables with only minor rule changes. Truly original ideas have become rare.

In my opinion, live casino games look better than ever today. The studios are more impressive, the graphics are sharper, and the presentation feels far more professional. Especially the biggest providers create games that look visually stunning and highly polished.

However, I also feel that there is limited innovation when it comes to gameplay and completely fresh concepts. That is why I am very curious to see where the future of live casino is heading and whether the industry will eventually surprise players again with something truly new.

Why Innovation Has Slowed Down

There are several reasons why innovation has slowed down. Live casino is an expensive business. Building studios, hiring dealers, and maintaining equipment costs a lot of money.

Because of this, providers often choose safety over risk. If an existing game concept performs well worldwide, it is financially safer to continue building on that success instead of investing heavily in completely new ideas.

Still, it feels like the industry may slowly be entering a new phase. New technologies could completely change the market. Some companies are already experimenting with virtual casino environments and digital presenters that almost look like real people.

This could allow developers to create new games faster and at a lower cost.

More Room for Experimentation

If production becomes cheaper, providers may become more willing to experiment with new concepts. Without expensive studios and large production costs, it becomes easier to test creative ideas.

As a result, future live casino games could become far more interactive, personal, and innovative than the games we know today.

Artificial intelligence could also play a major role in the future of live casino. Imagine games that adjust to a player’s preferences, unique bonus rounds, or even fully digital casino worlds where players can interact with each other.

These technologies could completely change the player experience.

Will Providers Take Risks?

The biggest question is whether the industry is truly willing to take risks. Over the past few years, proven concepts have continued to generate large profits. Because of this, many companies still prefer to make safe choices.

But one thing seems clear: if live casino wants to continue growing over the next decade, the industry will eventually need more than new skins, extra multipliers, and another version of the same game. At some point, players will want to be surprised again with something they have never seen before.

The development of live casino games has been incredible over the past few years, but lately the innovation seems to be slowing down. That makes me very curious about what the future of live casino will bring next.
