Funky Time is Evolution’s 1970s disco-themed live game show and a follow-up to the hugely successful Crazy Time. Instead of using a traditional money wheel, it introduced Evolution’s DigiWheel, a 64-segment digital wheel capable of generating random multipliers directly on its segments.

Place Your Bet
You have as many as 17 betting options at Funky Time. In the popular Crazy Time, there are 8, so in Funky Time, there are significantly more.

Wheel Spins
After all bets are placed, the game begins. The host spins the Funky Time wheel.
Disco Multiplier
While the wheel is spinning, a sparkling disco ball adds random multipliers to segments. These multipliers can go up to 50x and apply to both regular segments and bonus games.
Wheel Stops at “1” or Letter
When the wheel stops on number 1, you win the same amount as your bet. If there is a Disco Multiplier, you get your bet times the multiplier.
If it stops on a letter, you get 25x your bet. If that segment, for example, has a 20x Disco Multiplier, your total win becomes 25x multiplied by 20x = 500x your bet.
Wheel Stops at a Bonus
There are 4 different bonus games. If the wheel stops at one of these bonuses, the bonus game begins. All players who placed a bet on this outcome play the bonus game.

Multipliers & the DigiWheel
In Funky Time Live, multipliers are created directly on the DigiWheel. Before every spin, the wheel generates random multipliers and places them on random segments. In each round, between 3 and 16 multipliers can appear on the wheel. This means there are many chances for bets to be multiplied in a single spin.
When the wheel lands on a multiplier, the game uses it right away. If a bonus starts, the multiplier increases all bonus multipliers, so wins grow step by step.
Funky Time is known for having “cluster multipliers”. This means that multiple multipliers often appear close together on the wheel in the same round. Because of this, several bets can be multiplied at the same time, and bonus games often start with an extra multiplier value already applied.

My Strategy to Play Funky Time
I first saw this game at ICE London in 2023, and it immediately impressed me. I started playing the game, and it took some time to find the ideal strategy for me.
Betting on 1 has low volatility because it wins more often, but the payouts are small. Betting on letters has medium to high volatility since you win less often, but the prizes are higher when you do. The bonus games have the highest volatility because they appear less frequently, but they can lead to the biggest wins.
If you enjoy more risk, you can bet on all the bonus rounds. This gives you a high-volatility setup where you might lose several rounds in a row, but a single bonus hit can make up for it.
For me, I prefer a more balanced approach. I place one chip on each of the letters of one word, such as FUNK, PLAY, or TIME. This costs four chips in total.
At the same time, I add chips to three of the four bonus rounds. I usually skip the BAR bonus because the rewards are smaller.
I put two chips on DISCO and three chips on STAYIN’ ALIVE and VIP DISCO. In total, this makes twelve chips each round. If the letters win, I get back twenty-six chips, and when a bonus hits, the winnings can be much higher.
You choose the value of the chip before playing. In my own test sessions, I usually kept my total bet per round around five percent of my starting budget. That is my personal setup rather than a recommended staking rule, and a smaller percentage will naturally make your bankroll last longer.

My Playing Sessions – Funky Time Live (Compared to Crazy Time)
Across several Crazy Time sessions, one pattern was very clear. The game is highly volatile. Bonuses can take a long time to appear, and long losing streaks are common. When a bonus finally hits, it can change the whole session, but many bonus rounds pay low multipliers.
Balanced betting helps with bankroll control, while bonus-only or progressive betting quickly increases risk. Overall, Crazy Time feels exciting but unpredictable, and sessions can swing strongly between big wins and fast losses.
First session
I started with €100 and used my usual balanced setup: small bets on letters and bonus games. The game felt calm and relaxed. Multipliers appeared quite often on letters, but bonuses took some time to show up.

Fifth Session
This was the most memorable session. I started again with €100 and followed the same balanced approach. After some steady play, I triggered the Stayin’ Alive bonus.
My chosen color climbed high on the multiplier ladder and reached 150x. Later in the session, I also hit a 5x multiplier on the letter “U”, which paid 125x. These two moments changed the session completely.

What Did We Learn?
The final result after five sessions was a €75 profit, but the individual results tell us much more than that number alone. We lost €111 across the first two sessions and almost broke even in the third. The fourth produced a modest profit, while two bigger hits in session five completely changed our overall result.
What stood out most was the role of the letter bets and their multipliers. They regularly produced smaller wins that helped our balance survive periods without a strong bonus result. We saw this particularly clearly in sessions three and four.
The bonus games created the biggest swings. Bar and Disco did little for us in the first two sessions, while VIP Disco helped secure our profit in session four. The 150x Stayin’ Alive result in session five was by far one of the most important moments across our tests, followed by a 125x win on the letter U.
Overall, Funky Time felt more balanced and manageable than Crazy Time during our tests, especially with our strategy of combining letter bets with selected bonuses. However, our results also show how quickly things can change: without the strong fifth session, our overall result would have been a loss.
