In Asia, we’re witnessing a rise of “super apps”, or “everything app”, as Elon Musk refers to them. But what is a super app? Simply put, it’s an all-in-one platform that includes various services, from online and offline payments to messaging, ride-hailing, peer-to-peer transactions, paying bills, and more. These apps power a cashless society enabling users to finish everyday chores and purchase online or in brick-and-mortar stores from a single platform. GrabPay is one of these super apps catering to casino gamers from Southeast Asia.

Grab is the best-known technology startup in the region. It offers a leading super app that allows you to order food and groceries, send and receive packages, order private cab service, shop online, buy insurance and even invest money. About GrabPay

Grab Holdings Inc. is a tech company headquartered in Singapore. The company was founded in 2012 when Anthony Tan and Tan Hooi Ling launched the “My Teksi” app in Malaysia. Their aim was to enable safer taxi rides in Malaysia. The app quickly became available in the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore. Finally, GrabTaxi also expanded into Vietnam and Indonesia. The service soon rebranded, becoming known simply as “Grab”. This was a strategic move announcing future plans to add more products to their portfolio.

Consequently, Grab enhanced its offerings with more products such as deliveries, mobility, and tailor-made financial services. The super app now fulfils the needs of millions of people and business users across 400+ cities in 8 countries. GrabFood, GrabExpress, GrabMart, GrabGifts, GrabRewards and GrapPay Wallet are popular products you can access through a single digital platform.

GrapPay Wallet is what interest us. This digital wallet is a convenient way of paying for various everyday services. You can purchase mobile plans, groceries, order taxi rides, pay bills, and send money to your friends and family. With each transaction from GrabPay, you collect GrabRewards points you can redeem for discount vouchers.

So, it’s no surprise that online casinos focusing on gamers in Asia started offering GrabPay as a banking method in this region.

Target Markets

We’ve already said that Grab super app and its online-to-offline services are available in 8 countries in Southeast Asia. These countries are Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Indonesia. Citizens from more than 450 cities and towns in all these countries can use the Grab app and its products. However, only players from Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore can use GrapPay e-wallet at online casinos.

GrabPay Account

Setting up the GrabPay account is easy. First, download the Grab App from Google Play, App Store and AppGallery. You’ll find links and QR codes on the official website too.

Open the app to sign up. Provide your mobile phone number and set up a unique, strong password. Then, fill out the form with your name and address. Next, create a 6-digit PIN for 2-FA and choose how you want to fund your GrabPay wallet. You can add a bank account or payment cards, whichever you feel most comfortable using.

When you complete all this, open the app to activate the wallet. Tap the Payment icon at the bottom and click “Activate your GrabPay Wallet”. Continue by clicking on “Get started”. Provide your full name as it appears on your valid ID, nationality, DOB, valid ID number and address. That’s it – you’ve activated GrabPay Standard Wallet. If you wish to upgrade to a Premium service, you’ll have to complete the KYC procedure.
Finally, you must fund the balance. Choose “Cash-in Wallet” and select your preferred cash-in option: online banking, other e-wallets, bank account, or bank cards. Link the payment method with your e-wallet and transfer the funds to your balance.

How to Deposit with GrabPay?

Once you’ve credited your GrabPay wallet, visit one of the GrabPay casino sites we recommend here. Become a member and go to the cashier. Find GrabPay and choose it as your desired deposit method. Select the deposit amount or type in your custom value. You will see the casino’s GrabPay ID you should use to finish the transaction.

Log in to your app and go to „Payments“. You will receive an SMS with a verification code. Use it to confirm the transfer. The money will automatically become available in your casino balance when you authorise the transaction.

How to Withdraw with GrabPay?

Cashing out with a GrabPay wallet is almost identical to deposits – but in reverse. When you decide it’s time to collect the winnings, visit the withdrawal section on the banking page. Find GrabPay and click on the icon to start the procedure. Enter the desired amount you want to cash out, provide the necessary details, and submit your withdrawal request. Now, just wait for the money to appear in your GrabPay e-wallet.

Transfer Times, Fees, and Security

GrabPay digital wallet allows instant deposits. This is one of the main benefits of using this wallet for casino banking. However, withdrawals always take longer since the casinos have pending times necessary for the team to review the cashout request and approve the payout if everything is fine. In other words, you could wait 2-3 business days to receive the funds.

In most cases, you won’t be charged for paying and cashing out with GrabPay. Online casinos generally agree to pay incurring costs to the payment provider. However, this might not always be the case. Therefore, we advise you to check the banking page and read the casino’s T&C. It’s worth noting that GrabPay charges a 2% conversion fee and a 1% cross-border processing fee if you’re paying to casino operators based outside the SEA region.

GrabPay wallet is regulated by Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas and other reputable financial institutions in Malaysia and Singapore. The company also complies with the highest standards set by Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DDS). Finally, all transactions are safeguarded by 256-bit SSL encryption and 2FA feature.
