The developer is clearly banking on its Lightning brand to carry this game to some degree. Is there enough here to warrant this title’s inclusion among some of Evolution’s most popular releases? Join us for a closer look at Lightning Ball, and let’s find out if this game is basic or brilliant.

How to Play Lightning Ball

The core gameplay loop of Lightning Ball will be familiar to fans of Mega Ball. The goal of every round is to match as many numbers as possible on a single ticket. However, Lightning Ball uses two ball-drawing machines instead of the one we saw in Mega Ball.

The first drum is the main ball drawing machine, which can draw a ball with a label between 1 and 30. Meanwhile, the second drum holds the Powerball numbers and can output digits between 1 and 10. You win if at least two numbers on your ticket match those drawn by the two drums.

Before the round officially begins, players can buy tickets. Each ticket contains five standard numbers between 1 and 30 and one Powerball number between 1 and 10. To give yourself a better chance at winning, you can buy multiple tickets, up to 200 per round.

After betting time ends, the main drum will draw five numbered balls. If the drawn number matches a number on your ticket, it’ll be marked with a red spot. Once those five balls are drawn, the game switches to the Powerball machine, which draws a single numbered ball.

The game will then discard all non-winning tickets. You receive a cash prize for each winning ticket, depending on how many matching numbers are on it. After rewards are paid out, the next round begins.

Lightning Ball Features & Payouts

During every round, the host pulls a lever to generate a random Lightning multiplier from 2x to 50x. However, the multiplier only takes effect if the power number on your ticket matches the number on the Powerball. Of course, you still have to win the round, so you’ll need at least one more number on the regular ticket to match.

Evolution lets you set up AutoPlay, which repeats a set bet for a selected number of rounds. It’s a convenient addition and one we use frequently, thanks to how straightforward the gameplay is.

The game’s RTP is 97.03%. How much you win depends on the Lightning multiplier and how many matching numbers you’ve drawn. You can see all potential outcomes in the table below.

Closing Thoughts

Lightning Ball is a fun follow-up to Mega Ball. It keeps things simple, making it easy for players new to these types of games to learn and enjoy them. That said, we do wish Evolution added one more feature or some kind of side bet. It can sometimes feel a bit samey, especially if you’re a bit unlucky with not getting the Powerball number.

Despite some hiccups, we still recommend checking Lightning Ball out. It’s an entertaining live casino game with great winning potential. Give it a go at one of the live casinos listed below.
