Evolution New Lightning Sic Bo: Review and Strategies

Super Sic Bo was one of Evolution’s earliest takes on adding a multiplier to a popular game. Its success encouraged the team to keep going with the concept, leading to many fan-favourite games over the years. Now, the studio is giving the idea a refresh with Lightning Sic Bo.

How will this new title compare to the original? In this review, we explore its ins and outs to see if it’s worth your time.

Lightning Sic Bo 101

If you’ve played Sic Bo before, the basics of Evolution’s new release will be immediately obvious. You’re betting on the outcome of the three dice being rolled in the shaker. The betting table displays all possible results. You place bets by selecting a coin and clicking or tapping on all the spots you want to wager on.

Like with most games in the Lightning series, you have to deal with a 20% Lightning Fee. It is applied to your total bet as you’re wagering, making each stake more expensive.

However, the extra cost justifies itself the moment betting time ends. Every round, four or more betting spots will be struck by lightning. They will receive a multiplier ranging from 5x to 2,000x, boosting payouts considerably.

If you correctly guess the result of the round, you will receive an appropriate cash prize. Riskier wagers pay more, enticing you to try your luck. If the win occurs on a spot where the multiplier appeared, the reward you get will be increased appropriately. After payouts are awarded, a new round begins.

Lightning Sic Bo vs Super Sic Bo

Despite being a new game, Lightning Sic Bo isn’t all that different from Super Sic Bo. Both titles work around the same concept; they just go about it in slightly different ways. Super Sic Bo has no fee. However, that results in lower multipliers than Lightning Sic Bo. If you’re a jackpot chaser, Lightning Sic Bo’s 1,999:1 top prize will appeal to you more than Super Sic Bo’s 999:1.

Lightning Sic Bo’s extra fee also lets Evolution apply multipliers to all payouts. That includes wagers like Small/Big, Odd/Even and Single, which were left out of Super Sic Bo. Thanks to this, you can play the optimal bets and still benefit from increased payouts.

Lightning Sic Bo Strategy

Much like roulette, there is no definite strategy that can guarantee you a win. The outcome of each round is random, after all. However, some bets are more likely to score because their winning condition covers more outcomes. Betting on Small/Big and Odd/Even is almost 50-50 odds of winning. Getting it right usually results in a 1:1 reward, but multipliers can increase that to 14:1.

These two bets are the ones you want to stick to if you want the best odds of winning every round. They’re the only ones that give you Lightning Sic Bo’s 97.22% RTP. However, if you want bigger wins, you’ll need to play riskier wagers. We recommend throwing in an occasional combination or Total bet to keep things interesting.

Our Thoughts on Lightning Sic Bo

While Evolution is well known for innovative games, they aren’t out to change the world with every launch. Lightning Sic Bo feels more like a refresh rather than a definitive replacement. After all, Super Sic Bo is still available for players who prefer it.

Personally, we like Lightning Sic Bo more, but your mileage may vary. A 20% fee on every bet is nothing to sneeze at despite the bigger payouts and more outcomes being covered by a multiplier. As such, we recommend checking both live casino games out and seeing which one clicks with you more.
