Pragmatic Play Releases a New Version of Snakes & Ladders Live

One of the biggest upsides of live casino games is the option for software providers to update their games. If a particular release isn’t living up to player expectations, software providers can swoop in and change the game for broader appeal. It’s not something we see often, making every update stand out more.

Pragmatic Play’s new version of Snakes & Ladders Live is in the spotlight today. The team went for a near-complete revamp, including a switch from a dice-based game to a lucky wheel format. There’s plenty more to consider, so let’s dive right in.

What’s Changed in Snakes & Ladders Live?

As previously mentioned, the new Snakes & Ladders Live now uses a 54-segment wheel instead of a pair of dice. On one hand, this makes it more approachable to newcomers. However, it also feels more similar to other live game shows on the market, losing a bit of its uniqueness.

Players now place bets on one of four numbers (1, 2, 5, and 10) that contain instant win prizes. There are also four bet spaces for the two features: the Snakes and Ladders Board and the Snake Totem. Each game round, a multiplier is applied to one of the segment groups, potentially increasing payouts by up to 20x.

The inclusion of multipliers also changed how much you can win every round. The jackpot is now 20,570 times your stake, double the original 10,000x max payout. A similar thing happened when Evolution replaced Gold Bar Roulette with Gold Vault Roulette, with the jackpot value drastically increasing.

How to Play the New Snakes & Ladders Live?

Casino members can place wagers on eight betting positions at the start of every round. Players can bet that the wheel will draw one of the four instant win numbers or that one of two bonus features will be triggered. The Snake Totem feature can be drawn with 1 or 2 lives. Similarly, you can start the Board bonus with 3 or 5 rolls.

After placing your bet, the game randomly boosts one of the available segments. Instant win numbers can have their payouts increased by up to 20x, while bonus features can be boosted by 10x.

Once the multipliers are awarded, the host will spin the wheel. Depending on where it lands, players will receive an instant payout, or one of the two features will activate. You must have bet on the selected option to receive the reward. The next round begins after the payout is granted or the bonus is completed.

Snakes & Ladders Live Bonus Features

The Snakes & Ladders bonus round starts when the wheel stops on the 3-roll or 5-roll wheel segments. This determines how many dice rolls you get during the feature. Your goal is to climb as high as possible on the 8×8 board, collecting multipliers as you move up or down. Snakes and ladders are present on the grid. Ladders let you skip ahead and climb higher on the board, while snakes send you back down.

The wheel must stop on the 1 Life Totem or 2 Life Totem segments to activate the Snake Totem feature. The totem is made up of 66 vertically stacked tiles, with each tile either displaying a multiplier or an empty space.

A dice roll determines how many positions you move. Stop on a multiplier, and you win the corresponding prize. However, stopping in an empty space will make you lose a life. The feature ends when you reach the top of the totem or lose all your lives.

Our Thoughts on Snakes & Ladders Live

We were already fans of the original Snakes & Ladders Live, so we knew its updated version would entertain us. However, we didn’t expect Pragmatic Play to double the maximum payout when changing this release. It makes an already attractive title even more exciting, winning over most of us at the livecasino24.com team. That is why we are happy to recommend it to everyone who loves live dealer game shows.
