What Is Balloon Race Live?

Balloon Race Live is a hybrud between a live slot and a live game show game created by Evolution. It combines classic slot reels with a live bonus game, making it different from standard slots or pure live shows.

My Strategy to Play Balloon Race Live

There is no strategy that can predict the slot results or which balloon will win the live race. My approach is therefore mainly about controlling how much I spend while still getting access to the features that make Balloon Race interesting.

I prefer Normal Spin for most of my play. It has the highest RTP at 96.09% and costs only the base bet. XXXtreme Spin can be useful when I want a better chance of progressing towards the Bonus, but at 5x the base bet, the extra cost quickly adds up.

I am much more careful with Super XXXtreme Spin. It guarantees two Scatter or Expanding Wild symbols, but a single spin costs 50x the base bet. It improves your chance of qualifying, but it does not guarantee entry to the Balloon Race Bonus.

I also keep the optional Top-Up phase under control. Every extra Top-Up is another bet. Increasing the Top-Up stake can increase the multiplier values, but it also increases the amount at risk.

My approach is simple:

Our Results in Different Playing Sessions

During our test sessions, we experienced both quieter periods and rounds where the different multiplier features started to come together. Our best result reached a 300x multiplier, which is a respectable win and shows how much the Bonus can build when several elements work in your favour.

What stood out most was the difference in cost between the three spin modes. Normal Spin allowed us to play considerably longer, while XXXtreme and especially Super XXXtreme made the balance move much faster.

The live Balloon Race was the highlight for us. After spending most of the game trying to qualify and build multipliers, watching the physical ball machine decide which coloured balloon moved towards the finish line gave the Bonus much more tension than a standard RNG feature.

Expert View: Our 300x result was a good example of the potential of Balloon Race, but it should not be treated as a typical result. The outcome of every spin and race remains random.

What Happened When the Live Bonus Failed?

We encountered an unusual technical problem during one of our test sessions. After qualifying with a 5x multiplier and using the Top-Up feature, we entered the Balloon Race Bonus with final multipliers of 30x, 253x, 128x, and 66x.

The game continued, and we could hear the music, but we could not actually watch the race. The balloons didn’t visibly move, and the live host was missing from our screen.

What happened next was interesting. The game still completed the Bonus in the background. Purple won with our highest multiplier of 253x, and our €0.10 base bet was immediately settled at €25.30.

This does not prove that every interrupted round will settle correctly, but our affected round did. The betting and settlement system continued working even though the visual presentation failed.

For us, that was reassuring from a payout perspective, but frustrating from a gameplay perspective. The live balloon race is the main event, and winning 253x is considerably less exciting when you cannot actually watch your balloon cross the finish line.
