Quick Summary
- Disco Balls combines a 1–20 ball draw with evolving multipliers, creating a game where the potential payout can keep increasing before the winning number is drawn.
- The Disco Cat randomly adds multipliers and Bonus symbols to numbers, while Step Balls can push the Odd and Even multiplier ladders from 5x up to 500x.
- Winning Bonus numbers unlock the familiar Disco or VIP Disco bonus games from Funky Time, with multipliers collected in the main game carrying over into the bonus.
- The game offers a maximum multiplier of 10,000x and an optimal RTP of 96.08% on numbered bets, although the €500,000 payout cap can reduce the RTP at maximum stakes.
- Disco Balls looks like one of Evolution’s most feature-rich new releases, combining the atmosphere of Funky Time with a new ball-drawing mechanic.
- Expert view: Our test sessions confirmed our strong first impression. The evolving multipliers keep the main game entertaining even without a Bonus, while enthusiastic hosts and an outstanding disco studio make this feel like a genuine live game show.

What Is Disco Balls?
Disco Balls is a live game show from Evolution that uses a ball-drawing machine containing 100 balls: 40 red Step Balls, 40 Gold Step Balls and 20 Result Balls numbered from 1 to 20. As a player, your goal is to predict which numbered Result Ball will eventually be drawn. You can bet on individual numbers or on Low, High, Odd, and Even.
The developer spices things up by introducing multipliers and a bonus round. Up to four multipliers can be applied to various numbers on the grid, and one number can get more than one multiplier. The Disco Cat initially assigns a Disco or VIP Disco Bonus symbol to one number. Additional Step Balls can bring the Disco Cat back and add further Bonus numbers as the round develops. The top prize you can win is a mouthwatering 10,000x your stake.
How to Play Disco Balls?
Place Your Bets

The game gives you around 15 seconds to place wagers on one or more numbers on the grid. Select one of the coin values displayed beneath the betting area and place it on the available betting options. You have until the timer runs out to finish wagering.
Disco Cat Awards Multipliers

After betting ends, you’ll see Disco Cat and a pile of disco balls appear on the screen. The game uses RNG to distribute up to 4 multipliers and one bonus symbol to random numbered segments. One segment can receive several multipliers. If that happens, the multipliers are added together.
The Balls are Drawn

Each round starts with 100 balls in the machine: 40 red Step Balls, 40 Gold Step Balls and 20 numbered Result Balls. The machine keeps drawing balls until one of the numbered balls appears.
A red or Gold Step Ball doesn’t decide the result. Instead, it develops the round by increasing its corresponding multiplier ladder and bringing the Disco Cat back to add more multipliers or Bonus opportunities. The first numbered Result Ball drawn ends the main round and determines the winning number.
The Outcome is Decided

Once a result ball appears, the game will reward all players who guessed correctly. However, the payout you receive will be different based on your initial wager and how lucky you got with the multipliers. If the winning number is a bonus number, the bonus round will be played instead.
“Disco Balls doesn’t just wait for a winning number. It builds the potential payout while you’re waiting for it.”
Multipliers
Multipliers are an important part of Disco Balls, and there is more going on than we initially expected. During our own sessions, we found several types of multipliers that can be added to the betting grid and continue to build as more balls are drawn.
The Disco Cat controls most of this action. She adds multipliers before the first ball is drawn and returns after every red or golden Step Ball, meaning the values on the grid can change considerably during a single round.
Cat Multipliers
Every round starts with the Disco Cat throwing one to four Cat Multipliers onto random numbers on the betting grid. Cat Multipliers start as high as 20x before the first ball is drawn.
Cat Multipliers are not necessarily the final value for that number. Every time a red or golden Step Ball is drawn, the Disco Cat returns and throws one to four Cat Multipliers onto the grid.
If a Cat Multiplier lands on a number that already has a multiplier, the new value is added to the existing multiplier. This means individual numbers can become increasingly valuable as the round continues.
Ball Multipliers
The Disco Cat can also turn numbers into Disco numbers by adding a Ball Multiplier. You can recognise these numbers because their betting squares change to look like a disco ball.
The initial Ball Multiplier can range from 3x to 10x.
The important difference is that these multipliers are sticky. Once a number has become a Disco number, it remains active for the rest of that round.
After every red or golden Step Ball, all existing Disco numbers receive an additional multiplier from the Disco Cat. She can also create new Disco numbers during the round. Once added, these new sticky numbers will also receive additional multipliers after subsequent Step Balls.
This creates an interesting snowball effect. A Disco number that appears early in the round has more opportunities to build a large multiplier than one that is added shortly before the Result Ball is drawn.
Red and Golden Ladder Multipliers
Both multiplier ladders start at 5x. A red Step Ball moves the Red ladder up by either one or two steps, while a Gold Step Ball does the same for the Gold ladder. The Red ladder applies to Odd winning numbers and the Gold ladder to Even winning numbers.
Because each Step Ball can advance its ladder by one or two levels, the multipliers can grow quickly when several Step Balls of the same colour appear. Both ladders can eventually reach a maximum of 500x.
Disco and VIP Disco Bonus Multipliers
The Disco Cat can also place a Disco Bonus or VIP Disco Bonus on one number. These bonus positions can receive additional multipliers as the round progresses.
More Bonus numbers can appear as the round develops. Disco Cat initially assigns a Disco or VIP Disco Bonus to one number, but every Step Ball brings Disco Cat back and gives another number the chance to become a Bonus number. During our test sessions, we saw as many as six Bonus numbers active in a single round.

There are two important possibilities here.
Cat, Ball and ladder multipliers collected on the winning Bonus number are added directly to your Bonus total. A Bonus Game Multiplier works differently: it multiplies all Regular Multiplier values on the dance floor before Mr Funky starts moving. For example, with a 3x Bonus Game Multiplier, a regular 20x tile starts the Bonus at 60x.
This distinction is important because a multiplier on the number affects your starting position in the bonus, while a multiplier on the Bonus can increase the value of the entire dance floor.
| Disco | VIP Disco | |
|---|---|---|
| Dance floor | 37 squares | 63 squares |
| Initial Regular Multipliers | 1x–100x | 1x–500x |
| Mechanics | Same | Same |
| Ends when | Mr Funky falls off | Mr Funky falls off |
Multipliers Keep Building Until the Result Ball
What makes the multiplier system interesting is that the betting grid isn’t fixed after betting closes.
The round starts with Cat Multipliers and potentially sticky Disco Multipliers and Bonus symbols. Then every red or golden Step Ball gives the Disco Cat another opportunity to increase existing values, create new sticky Disco numbers and boost Bonus positions, while simultaneously increasing the red or golden multiplier ladder.
As a result, a number that starts the round with only a small multiplier can become much more valuable before the Result Ball is finally drawn.
This evolving multiplier system is one of the main differences between Disco Balls and a straightforward ball-drawing game: the longer the Step Balls keep coming, the more the betting grid can develop before the winning number is decided.
Disco and VIP Disco Bonuses
The bonus game kicks off if the bonus symbol lands on the winning number. Only players who placed a direct bet on that number can participate in the feature, which is how Evolution pushes you to go for riskier wagers.
In both cases, you’ll see Mr Funky take the disco floor just like in Funky Time. Each position on the floor is marked with either a regular or floor multiplier. Regular multipliers are added to your total, while floor multipliers double the value of five random regular multipliers.
Mr Funky collects these multipliers by stepping on them. After he steps on a tile, that tile will remain empty for two consecutive moves before the same multiplier type and value appear on it again. Mr Funky can move up, down, left, and right, as determined by the spin of a wheel. The bonus continues until he falls off the dance floor.
The Disco and VIP Disco bonuses play out the same way, with a few key differences. First, the play area sizes are different, with Disco having 37 squares as opposed to VIP Disco’s 63. Regular multipliers can also be bigger in VIP Disco, going up to 500x versus 100x in the standard Disco bonus. This makes it more difficult to lose the VIP Disco bonus and easier to score bigger wins.
How Long Can a Disco Balls Round Last?
Every round starts with 100 balls: 80 Step Balls and only 20 numbered Result Balls. The round continues until the first Result Ball appears, which means some rounds can last considerably longer than others.
Assuming drawn balls are not returned to the machine during the round, there is around a 12.2% chance that the first nine draws are all Step Balls. In other words, roughly one in eight rounds reaches at least the tenth draw without a winning number appearing.
Very long sequences become much rarer. The chance that the first Result Ball appears exactly on draw 20 is around 0.22%, while reaching draw 30 without previously drawing a Result Ball is exceptionally rare.
This matters because Step Balls don’t simply delay the result. Every Red or Gold Step Ball can advance its multiplier ladder and bring the Disco Cat back, potentially adding or increasing multipliers and creating additional Bonus numbers. A long round therefore gives the betting grid much more opportunity to develop before the Result Ball finally decides the winner.
| Step Balls before a Result Ball | Chance of reaching this point |
|---|---|
| 5 | ~32% |
| 10 | ~9% |
| 15 | ~2% |
| 20 | ~0.5% |
| 25 | ~0.1% |
| 30 | ~0.02% |
Expert View: Long rounds are relatively rare, but they are often the most exciting. Every additional Step Ball gives the multiplier system another chance to develop, which is why some rounds can build much more potential than others.
Tips & Strategies for Disco Balls
Disco Balls is a game of chance, so there is no strategy that can predict the Result Ball or overcome the house edge. However, your bet selection and stake size can make a big difference to how you experience the game and how quickly you use your bankroll.
Understand the Multipliers Before You Play
The basic game is easy, but the multiplier system takes a few rounds to understand. Pay particular attention to the difference between Cat Multipliers, Ball Multipliers, the Red and Gold ladders and Bonus Game Multipliers.
Both ladders start at 5x, and every matching Step Ball can move its ladder up by one or two levels, eventually reaching 500x. At the same time, Step Balls bring Disco Cat back, potentially adding more multipliers and Bonus numbers. Understanding these mechanics makes it much easier to follow where the real value is building during a round.
Bet on Numbers if You Want the Bonus Games
If Disco and VIP Disco are the main reason you are playing, individual numbers are important. Bonus symbols are attached to numbers from 1–20, so simply betting on Low, High, Odd or Even does not give you access to the Bonus game when one of those numbers wins.
More Bonus numbers can appear as Step Balls are drawn. During our tests, we saw as many as six Disco or VIP Disco numbers active in a single round.
Don’t Chase the Biggest Multiplier on the Board
Seeing a number collect a huge multiplier can make it tempting to change your bets, but remember that betting has already closed before the multipliers develop. You cannot react to a 100x or 500x opportunity once the round is underway.
More importantly, a number carrying a huge multiplier is still only one possible Result Ball. A bigger multiplier does not make that number more likely to win.
You Don’t Need a Bonus for a Big Win
Don’t view the main game merely as a route to Disco or VIP Disco. The evolving multipliers can create substantial payouts on ordinary numbers as well.
We saw this ourselves. Across our test sessions, our two biggest regular number wins were 121x and 157x, while our Bonus results ranged from 68x to 304x. A Bonus therefore does not automatically produce the biggest win of your session.
Keep Your Stakes Small if You Want a Longer Session
Disco Balls is relatively slow. In one of our tests, we played only 37 rounds in an hour. That can work in your favour if you enjoy longer sessions.
In that session, we started with €100 and wagered €0.10 on all 20 numbers, for a total of €2 per round. After an hour, €72 remained. This is only one session and not an indication of what you should expect to win or lose, but the slower pace means fewer betting rounds per hour than in many faster live games.
Don’t Increase Your Stake After a Loss
A disappointing Result Ball or a poor Bonus doesn’t make a better result more likely in the next round. Avoid increasing your stake simply to recover previous losses.
The same applies after seeing someone else hit a huge multiplier. Every new round starts with a new random sequence.
Our Disco Balls Strategy
We prefer small, consistent stakes across several or all individual numbers. This gives you exposure to the evolving number multipliers and the possibility of entering Disco or VIP Disco without making each round too expensive.
Most importantly, give yourself a few rounds to understand what is happening. Disco Balls becomes much more entertaining once you understand how the different multipliers build on each other. The game has plenty of depth, but none of those features change the fundamental rule: the outcome is random, and no betting strategy can guarantee a profit.
Our Test Sessions
We played Disco Balls across several real-money sessions to see how the game feels in practice rather than judging it only by its 96.08% RTP and 10,000x maximum multiplier. Two €100 sessions were particularly useful because they produced very different results.
| Our test | Session 1 | Session 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Starting bankroll | €100 | €100 |
| Betting approach | €0.10 on all 20 numbers | €0.10 on all 20 numbers |
| Total stake per round | €2 | €2 |
| Playing time | ± 1 hour | ± 1 hour |
| Ending bankroll | €72 | €128 |
| Session result | –€28 | +€28 |
| Biggest regular number win | 121x | 157x |
| Biggest Bonus win | 68x VIP Disco | 304x VIP Disco |
Our first session showed how long a relatively small bankroll can last. We started with €100 and bet €0.10 on every number, for a total stake of €2 per round. After around one hour, we still had €72 left. Our biggest regular number win was 121x, while our best VIP Disco Bonus returned 68x.
The second session showed the other side of Disco Balls. Starting again with €100, we hit a 157x regular number win and a much stronger 304x Bonus result. This time we finished with €128, giving us a €28 profit.
These two sessions illustrate the volatility nicely. The same starting bankroll produced a €28 loss in one session and a €28 profit in another, while both sessions still delivered meaningful multiplier wins.
More Than Just Waiting for a Bonus
Across all our test sessions, our biggest regular number win reached 157x without entering a Bonus game. That is important because Disco Balls does not make you completely dependent on Disco or VIP Disco for a substantial result.
Our biggest Bonus result was 304x. However, that came in a different session from our 121x regular win and 68x VIP Disco result. The sessions showed us that both the main game and Bonus games can provide meaningful wins, but neither route guarantees a big payout.
Our Experience With a €100 Bankroll
We were particularly impressed by how long the €100 bankroll lasted. Covering every number meant we had action on every Result Ball, while the relatively small €2 total stake allowed us to play for a full hour without burning through the bankroll quickly.
Of course, one 37-round session is far too small a sample to predict future results, and another €100 session could end very differently. But as a practical test, it showed us that Disco Balls can be surprisingly suitable for longer sessions when stakes are kept small.
Our expert view: What impressed us most was the balance between bankroll-friendly small-stake play and genuine big-win potential. The two sessions showed exactly why we find Disco Balls so entertaining. With the same €100 starting bankroll, one session ended at €72 while another finished at €128. We hit regular number multipliers of 121x and 157x, while our Bonus results ranged from 68x to 304x. The main game can therefore deliver substantial wins without a Bonus, while Disco and VIP Disco add another level of potential.
Look & Feel
If you loved the colourful, upbeat feel of Funky Time, you’ll find Disco Balls to be right up your alley. It leans more into the red-and-gold aesthetic, which helps separate the base game from the release that inspired it. However, Evolution is well aware this is a game made for Funky Time fans, which is why its iconic Disco and VIP Disco bonuses look the same as they did in that game.
The addition of the Disco Cat and its antics is fantastic, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in future Evolution releases. After all, what game wouldn’t be better with a cat wearing a bowtie and heart-shaped sunglasses?
Disco Balls vs Other Live Game Shows
Given the variety of live game shows available to players, Disco Balls has some stiff competition ahead of it. I compare how Disco Balls stacks up with similar game shows and which one will better suit your tastes.
Funky Time vs Disco Balls
Given the thematic similarity and the shared bonus round, it’s only fair to compare these two Evolution game shows. However, despite these elements, these are very different experiences. Funky Time is a feature-heavy game show where the base game is little more than filler. Disco Balls seems to have been built in response to this, with multipliers allowing substantial wins even during normal gameplay.
If you want more bonus variety, Funky Time seems like the better choice. However, what Disco Balls lacks in heavy-hitting features, it makes up for with countless ways to boost multipliers. It all comes down to the gameplay style you prefer.
Crazy Balls vs Disco Balls
In some ways, Crazy Balls was a precursor to Disco Balls. It adapted the wildly popular Crazy Time game show into a bingo-style game, similar to what Disco Balls did to Funky Time. However, while Funky Time focused on one feature, Crazy Balls brought over all four features that made Crazy Time such a hit.
As a result, while the two games look like they should play the same, Crazy Balls is an experience more in line with Crazy Time and Funky Time. It lacks the winning potential in the base game that Disco Balls offers with its multipliers. However, you can win more in Crazy Balls: 20,000x your bet versus Disco Balls’ 10,000x maximum multiplier.
Who Is Disco Balls Best Suited For?
Disco Balls is best suited to players who enjoy feature-rich live game shows and want something happening throughout the main game, rather than simply waiting for a Bonus round. The evolving multipliers give it considerably more depth than most number-draw games.
| Type of player | Good fit? | Why? |
|---|---|---|
| Multiplier fans | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Several types of multipliers can develop throughout the same round |
| Game show fans | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Energetic hosts, music, Mr Funky and two colourful Bonus games |
| Funky Time fans | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Disco and VIP Disco return in a new game with a much more involved main round |
| Players who like feature-rich games | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Step Balls, multiplier ladders, Bonus numbers and evolving multipliers create exceptional depth |
| Big-win hunters | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Maximum multiplier reaches 10,000x |
| Players with smaller bankrolls | ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ | Low stakes and a relatively slow pace can make longer sessions possible |
| Mobile players | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Worked extremely well on mobile during our tests |
| Casino beginners | ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ | Easy to start playing, but the different multiplier types take time to fully understand |
| Players who prefer fast games | ⭐⭐☆☆☆ | We recorded only 37 rounds in one hour during one test session |
| Players who prefer simple games | ⭐⭐☆☆☆ | There is much more to follow than in a basic wheel or number-draw game |
Our view: Disco Balls is particularly well suited to players who love multipliers, bonus features and the entertainment of Evolution’s game shows. Unlike many bonus-driven games, however, the main game is a major part of the attraction. Across our test sessions, our biggest regular number win was 157x without even entering a Bonus, while our best Bonus result reached 304x.
We would especially recommend it to Funky Time fans who want more action between Bonus games. Players who prefer quick results or very simple rules may find it too slow or initially a little overwhelming, but for us, the combination of evolving multipliers, enthusiastic hosts, and excellent presentation makes Disco Balls one of Evolution’s most entertaining game-show concepts.

What’s My Opinion on Disco Balls?
After playing Disco Balls for several sessions, I can now say that I think this is a fantastic live game show. The finished game is even better than I expected from the first previews.
What I enjoy most is that there is almost always something happening. Step Balls can increase the multiplier ladders, Disco Cat can add new multipliers and Bonus numbers, and the potential payout keeps developing until the Result Ball finally appears. You are not simply waiting for Disco or VIP Disco to make the game interesting. Our biggest regular number win was 157x without even entering a Bonus game.
The pace is slow. In one session, I played only around 37 rounds in an hour, but for me, that actually suits the game. There is so much happening within each round that it rarely feels boring. It also means you don’t burn through bets as quickly. In that session, I started with €100, bet €2 per round across all 20 numbers, and still had €72 left after an hour.
Another €100 session went even better. I hit a 157x regular number win and a 304x Bonus result and finished with €128. That difference between the two sessions also shows how unpredictable the multipliers can make the experience.
The presentation is another major strength. Everything feels like a real game show. The studio breathes disco, the music and Mr Funky add to the atmosphere, and the dealers genuinely seem to enjoy themselves. Seeing them dance along with Mr Funky and celebrate big multipliers makes the Bonus games even more entertaining.
There is a small learning curve. It took me a while to fully understand the different multiplier types and how they interact, but once you understand the system, that complexity becomes one of the game’s biggest strengths.
Expert View: Disco Balls succeeds because Evolution hasn’t made the Bonus games the only attraction. The evolving multiplier system gives the main game genuine depth and allows substantial wins even without reaching Disco or VIP Disco. Add the 96.08% optimal RTP, 10,000x maximum potential, and excellent live presentation, and I consider Disco Balls one of Evolution’s strongest and most complete game shows.
